QUINOA

Updated: Dec 26, 2021

Who likes quinoa? It is definitely not a food I was used to eat as a child, but I love that we see it more and more these days. 2013 was even declared ''The International Year of Quinoa" by the United Nations.

Quinoa is considered as a whole grain (even though it's technically not a grain), and can have many uses, including replacing oatmeal or rice. Its nutritional value makes it an amazing food to add to any diet, it contains proteins, carbohydrates, fibers, Iron, Magnesium, B vitamins and very little fat. It also contains large amounts of flavonoids, potent plants antioxidants offering various health benefits.

It's a good option for people living with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity as it is gluten-free.

I like it for breakfast, with fruits, nuts, seeds and plant-milk. I also eat it with chili or a vegetable curry, in soups or salads and to accompany any meal instead of rice.

Do you like it? How do you eat quinoa?
